There is room for Debra Lee If is one thing that is certain about entertainment business, it is the reality that, you better love what you do because, where you are now is where you might be for the rest of your life. For singer-songwriter Debra Lee, the where is the Delaware Valley. "If I let the business side get to me, l would have quit a long time ago," said Lee from her home. "You just keep going because it's just in your heart to do it." Lee is like so many other talented artists. They all must endure the mind-numbing wait for a break. For that decision maker somewhere to believe in their project. "It's the creative part that keeps me going," the Quakertown High School graduate said, "I love going into the studio and creating and writing the songs...and sharing my music with others, I get such good response from people who are really open to it." Debra Lee began playing the piano at four years old, received musical training, and performed throughout her childhood and teen years. In college she studied music and English, earning a BA from West Chester University, and has earned a living as a piano teacher, copywriter, and journalist. Lee has performed at such venues as John & Peters in New Hope, and has performances coming up at The Main Street Theater in Bucks County and in Virginia. In 1995, Lee moved to the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia where she focused on her songwriting. In November of 1997, She teamed up with Pennsylvania's Goldfinger Productions to produce her debut CD entitled, Millennial Thing. The 12-song offering is made up of pop/rock tunes that are well thought out, well produced and contain enough good hooks in some of the songs to warrant a strong look from the major labels. Lee teamed up with producers Dean Sargent and Michael Henegan to perform at "An FM Audition" CD release party [ produced by Rick Denzien ] Tuesday, September 22 at the Stadium Club in Fairless Hill, PA - and moved back to the area shortly after. "Teaming up with them has bee real helpful for me," Lee said. 'They have a solid background and a lot of experience ... they had so much to do with encouraging me and arranging the songs." For now, though, Lee is just going to keep the faith. "I really believe there's room for everybody to shine. I believethere's a place for everybody." |
